Expectations when decorating
While deciding the tone or nature of a room, there are some expectations or images in mind about what a room should or shouldn’t look like. There is always a sense of motivation about having these expectations met. The interest to imagine or expect what a room should look like gives enough inspiration to practically work on them. It doesn’t just finish here. Pleasure and a sense of control follow it.
Control
The
modern age has given man many ways to accomplish his many options. But, none of
the methods is free from obstacles. As much as he wants to prevent those
obstacles from getting in his way, they can't be avoided. And it leads to a
loss of control over his life. In contrast, decorating gives a sense of power
by deciding which element or accessory will go or fit into which space or area.
Home sweet home
This
phrase doesn’t come out of nowhere and without reason. Imagine working in the
office the whole day, interacting with all types of people and their different behaviors,
following the schedule, orders, and rules given by the boss, dealing with that
traffic jam you want to escape but can't; what is the next thing you want? Does
the thought of going into the house where everything is in YOUR control
intrigue you? Home is undoubtedly considered heaven.
Possibilities
Decorating
a house or a room gives a never-ending list of options or possibilities. The
list goes on, from choosing between wallpaper or paint for the walls to
deciding what flowers that vase should contain. And it gives people something
to think about besides the anxieties and tensions of the world. Upon entering a
home
decor store, there might be things that were a perfect choice for the type of vibe
needed. But mixing different kinds of things, some antiques corresponding
perfectly to the color of the modern-looking rug, could bring that “wow” factor.
Comfort zone
Living
within comfort zone and boundaries and never trying something new takes all the
fun in life. Decoration can give people something they can always try without
fearing failure. Mixing up colors you never imagined to be together and playing
with different patterns and textures provides a room with its charm.
Stories/ Memories
Every
piece of furniture or decor tells its story, whether it is because of its price
tag or location. Putting that lamp beside the sofa; so, reading books can be
comfortable, hanging that neon sign on the wall to catch the attention it
deserves, or that beautiful blue vase on the high shelf instead of the
nightstand; so, your cat can not break it into pieces. These stories become
memories as time goes on.
Pleasure
When the
tone, color, vibe, furniture, and feel of a room are met with your
expectations, there comes the pleasure. The pleasure when a particular task is
completed, just the way it was supposed to be completed, hits differently. But
the story does not end here. As long as the thinking continues, the
possibilities of ideas go on. Every color and texture can be interconnected.
And remember, nothing looks good or bad; it is just the thinking that makes it.
